The World of Media From the Perspective of Young Researchers Conference

2nd Student and Doctoral Scientific Conference

The Students of Information, Library and Book Science at the University of Łódź invite you to participate in a scientific conference on the current challenges in the world of media and social communication. The event provides a space for interdisciplinary reflection by young researchers on the role of media in today's world and their impact on contemporary society.

WHEN AND WHERE?

The conference will take place on Monday, June 8, 2026.

Venue: Lecture Hall A3, 171/173 Pomorska Street, 90-236 Łódź (building of the Faculty of Philology, University of Łódź).

WHAT IS THE CONFERENCE ABOUT?

The aim of the event is to exchange knowledge on how the media shape the experiences of individuals and communities, and their impact on science, culture, and public life. Young scientists will present the results of their research and observations in research areas such as information science and media and communication. Another important goal of the conference is the exchange of experiences between students and doctoral candidates, including members of research groups (clubs) at the Faculty of Philology, University of Lodz and young scientists from other faculties and centers, as well as the integration of the community.

The first edition of the conference took place in 2024. Twenty-two papers were presented, and the speakers were predominantly students, for most of whom this was their first public appearance in the academic world. Young scientists presented the "world of media" from various perspectives – ranging from changes in the traditional media market to the phenomena of the internet, digital marketing, digital culture, and audiovisual culture.
